Important Notice about the Canada Post Labour Dispute

Due to the interruption of Canada Post mail services, we will consider an extension to the deadline, on a case by case basis, for applications that are not post marked by November 30th.

Because the Canada Post labour dispute may hold up the collection of consent forms from claimants, we will accept electronic copies of the consent forms, including scanned and faxed versions. The electronic version can be sent directly to our Group IAP generic email account (see below). Please be sure to include the group name when making a submission to the generic account so we can match your consent form with the correct Group IAP application.

Thank you for your interest in Group IAP.

The Group IAP program provides funding to established groups to support healing and reconciliation for group members, their families, and communities. This program provides an opportunity for individuals to come together as they go through their individual IAP claim and/or shortly thereafter.

The overall objectives are:

  • To affect healing by helping former residential school students who have been admitted to the IAP who share similar experiences (school, community, issues) to support each other in their journey towards healing and reconciliation
  • To empower individuals by giving them access to tools and resources to develop, enhance and strengthen relationships between former students, their families, their communities, and with other Canadians in support of healing and reconciliation during the IAP and/or after their IAP hearing.

Call for Proposals (CFP) process for the 2019-2020 fiscal year for Group IAP

Effective November 30th 2018, the Indian Residential Schools Adjudication Secretariat (IRSAS) has completed the Call for Proposals (CFP) process for the 2019-2020 fiscal year for Group IAP funding. The IRSAS has implemented a CFP to conduct a fair, transparent and equal opportunity for all interested groups to apply for Group IAP contribution funding.

For Applicants:

  • We will acknowledge receipt of your proposal within fourteen calendar days of receiving it.
  • All applicants will be notified whether they have been selected as a recipient for Group IAP funding for the 2019-2020 fiscal year by February 28, 2019.

Unfortunately, due to limited funding, IRSAS is unable to approve all proposals submitted under the CFP. Funding is limited and is subject to budgetary considerations of the Group IAP program. It should also be noted that decisions are final and applicants have no right of appeal.
