Blott and Honour Walk Clients - Notice to lost claimants
April 7, 2016
On June 5, 2012 the Supreme Court of Bristish Columbia removed Blott & Company and Honour Walk Ltd from participation in the Independent Assessment Process (IAP) administered by the Indian Residential Schools Adjudication Secretariat.
A Transition Coordinator was appointed by the Court to transfer all claimant files held by Blott & Company and Honour Walk Ltd to new lawyers. The majority of these files have since been admitted to the IAP.
However, important information is missing from a number of the claims formerly held by Blott & Company and Honour Walk Ltd. Without this information, it will not be possible to admit these claims to the IAP. For example, information on how to contact the claimant is missing from most of the remaining files. This makes it impossible for the Transition Coordinator or the Secretariat to follow up with the claimant or to find them a new lawyer.
If the Secretariat does not receive additonal information about these claims and the claimants, the claims may be non-admitted. The Secretariat hopes to locate these claimants so that the Transition Coordinator can find them a new lawyer.
In order for claimants who filed a claim with Blott & Company and Honour Walk Ltd have a fair chance to have their claim admitted to the IAP, and also have their privacy respected, the Secretariat is reaching out to obtain more information through this notice.
If you filed an IAP claim with Blott & Company or Honour Walk Ltd, and have not received any notice or information concerning the status of your claim, please call us. If you know someone who has filed a claim who has not heard from the Secretariat, please have them call us. You can reach the IAP InfoLine at 1-877-635-2648.
